Darker skin tones should 'never overdo foundation in compact mirror'
23 December 2010 12:00
Using too much foundation on the face and neck is one of the "most horrendous" mistakes women with darker complexions can make in their compact mirrors, it is believed.
A new report for TheMedGuru by make-up expert Gunjan Mehra explained that "over-enthusiastic zeal" to look fairer than usual by using more foundation or face powder can look terrible, particularly if it does not get full coverage aside from the face.
"Remember, blending is the key to looking natural," Ms Mehra explained. "So, if you wish to use a foundation, one, make sure you select a shade closest to your natural skin tone and apply it evenly to your face and neck."
Face powder should then be applied to avoid make-up smudging, she added, and ladies should choose a shade closest to their natural skin tone because they want to look beautiful - not like a "banshee".
This week, Becomegorgeous offered some top tips for a new look this Christmas. It said that ladies should follow Christina Aguilera with their compact mirror choices, going for gold eyes and red lips.
