Compact mirror news: 'Tough but possible' to wear brightly-coloured make-up
13 December 2010 13:30
Women should not be intimidated by applying bright colours in their compact mirror, it has been underlined.
Susan Edmunds of Hawke's Bay Today said: "Unless you're 13, this season's bold, sparkly colours will probably cause some concern. But when it's done well, bright make-up delivers a fresh, summery look."
She explained that oranges and turquoises look particularly great when paired with bronzer, though ladies would likely need tips for their compact mirror to help pull off the look without going into "clown-on-a-day-off territory".
Colours need to be used in moderation, she said, as less is more when bright make-up is applied. Really bold shades should only be applied to one feature at a time, such as teaming vibrant eyeshadow with nude lip colour or vice-versa.
Last week, Now magazine criticised the overly-bold make-up of Strictly Come Dancing's Kara Tointon and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, as well as the large amounts both seem to use.
